FAQs
What’s the deal with this podcasting class?
The class is a six week course taught by podcasting expert Jeremy Bent where you’ll learn the basics of recording, editing and mixing. You’ll also meet other aspiring podcasters and get individual feedback on your concept to help focus it into the perfect showcase for your talents.
But I don’t even have a microphone. How am I gonna make a whole show?
You actually do have one – modern smartphones are a perfectly acceptable way to learn the basics of audio recording and editing. And this class focuses on making a trailer for your idea, so you can learn all the steps before committing to making a full-length project.
Isn’t recording equipment really expensive?
It certainly can be! But if you already have a computer and a smartphone, there’s free audio editing software like Reaper, which is what we use in class, and affordable mics (if you want to upgrade) that can make you sound professional without breaking the bank.
Ok, cool. So this guy’s gonna edit my show for me?
I mean, he could, and he will, if you want to hire him to do that. But this class is about giving you the toolbox to edit your own project, and then you can spend as long as you like perfecting your show, while also sharpening your audio skills to bring with you to whatever project comes next. It’s like the old saying: give someone a podcast, and they’ll rant for a day. Teach someone to podcast, and they’ll rant for a lifetime.
